Cheryl Green was chosen by the Arkansas Early Childhood Special Education Unit as one of only 6 coaches to implement the Pyramid Model in Early Childhood in Arkansas. Dierks Preschool was chosen as only one of 6 sites to pilot the program! The Pyramid project works with the National Center for Pyramid Model Innovations and is a three year program designed to build local capacity for social and emotional and behavioral intervention for early childhood students. The first two years will be spent developing practices at the implementation sites where the practices will be observed, taught and analyzed by Coaches and members of the support team from DESE and NCPMI. We are so EXCITED and PROUD of Cheryl and our Dierks site for being chosen!

The DeQueen Mena Educational Service Cooperative Foster Grandparent Program and the Guy Fenter Educational Service Cooperative FGP made snack baskets for law enforcement agencies in all of the counties in Western Arkansas that the program serves as part of their Americorps 911 service project. Last year our group recognized our local fire department agencies. We will never forget the sacrifice our firemen and policemen made on that terrible day. Our local grandparents delivered 15 baskets to all of the counties and county seats that our program serves. We greatly appreciate our law enforcement and all they do to keep us safe. Our grandparents had a wonderful time getting to know and visit with our local law enforcement. #thinkcoop1st We Serve and Support our Schools so that ALL Students Succeed.
Check out the action-packed day the participants of the DMESC LMS Fall meeting had in Ashdown! They started off by shopping for free books at Domtar (partnership with First Book), then had the opportunity to tour Sandy Smith's incredible, genrified high school library. In the afternoon, Karen Deaver, the Ashdown Jr. High LMS, hosted our sessions where Ashley Kincannon, ADE CS Specialist, and Tyra Hobson, DMESC Technology Coordinator, provided valuable insights on upcoming STEM Hub plans for DMESC educators and students. To wrap up the day, Evan Beavers, AEM Coordinator for ADE, introduced them to the Texthelp tools, which can enhance student achievement in reading and mathematics. Every student in Arkansas now has access to three Texthelp tools - Read&Write, Equatio, and uPar. Exciting times ahead for DMESC educators and students! #thinkcoop1st We Serve and Support our Schools so that ALL Students Succeed.
