Telia Dunn, a therapist at Cornerstone Counseling in Nashville, AR, spoke to our DMESC Foster Grandparents at DMESC, Nashville, and GFESC these past few weeks. Her topic was Childhood Trauma and how that affects the students they will deal with this year. Foster Grandparent Director Terry Young and Volunteer Coordinator Ann Frachiseur attended the Americorps Seniors Convening 2024. It was the 30th anniversary of Americorps and 1300 program leaders were in attendance from all over the US. They attended sessions on how to enhance and better serve their program and got to network and share ideas with all of the other Arkansas program directors and coordinators. #thinkcoop1st. Tyra and Stacey presented to Mrs. Litchford's FFA officers at Horatio, where they shared effective leadership strategies for the program. The students were actively engaged in team-building activities, showing great enthusiasm for the upcoming school year. #thinkcoop1st

Members of the Early Childhood Team, Karen and Kelli recently completed and passed their certification to become CLASS-Classroom Assessment Scoring System-observers. CLASS is a result of the LEARNS Act, which requires that a uniform classroom evaluation tool be established for all early childhood programs. They will soon attend the Train the Trainer portion so they will have the ability to create new assessors and build local capacity. #thinkcoop1st.
